BUS DRIVER - 6 hours per day - $32,000GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIESOperates a school bus and performs a variety of elementary maintenance activities in connection with such operation; performs related duties as required.COMPLEXITY OF DUTIESUnder direct supervision, this is routine manual work calling for the services of a skilled operator. Work involves considerable responsibility for safety of school children.TYPICAL DUTIES1.Operates a school bus on a regular schedule.2.Occasionally drives students to and from special events.3.Cleans, washes and polishes bus.4.Changes oil, puts on chains, repairs tires and performs a variety of minor repair tasks.5.May be responsible for safety and decorum in school parking areas.6.May occasionally fill in on school cleaning and grounds tasks.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES1.Good knowledge of the operation of buses.2.Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.3.Mechanical aptitude.4.Dependability.5.Good physical condition.Benefits available through NYSHIPEligible to contribute to the NYS Pension SystemMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTraining and ExperiencePossession of a valid New York State Driver's License, with no convictions for moving violations during the past year and appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
