POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic III – Plumber/HVAC MechanicLOCATION: District Wide START: As soon as possibleSHIFT: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pmSALARY: As per Operations ContractJOB DESCRIPTION: Skilled in repairing and replacing of piping, fittings, and fixtures, (valves, faucets, pumps, toilets, sinks, hot water heaters, traps, etc.). Solders and welds. Threads pipe. Checks for and repairs leaks on plumbing systems. Performs preventative maintenance on boilers and boiler equipment (pumps, motors, bearings, blowers, orifices, etc.), repairs boilers and boiler equipment, repairs/installs air conditioning units, performs preventive maintenance on air handlers as well as replaces belts and filters, greases fittings. Checks for and repairs leaks on HVAC systems. Plans and lays out projects which includes estimating time and material costsDetermines type and amount of materials to be used and orders materials.Determines method to complete workQUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of the practices, materials, tools and methods of the assigned craft or specialty areaThorough knowledge of the pertinent rules, regulations and codes which are applicable to the assigned craft or specialty areaThorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work; skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment of the trade; ability to understand and work from general instructions, building specifications, blueprints or sketches; ability to make time, labor and material estimatesAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to supervise the work of others in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
