We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Special Education Teacher who embodies strong communication skills and a deep commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment, bringing energy and excitement to the classroom each day.Position – Anticipated Elementary Self-Contained Special Education Teacher:Full-time, tenure track position starting on or about 1/22/2026 for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year..Salary & Benefits pursuant to MTA Agreement.Certification:NYS Elementary Education Certification Dual certification preferred with NYS Special Education The successful candidate will:As a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for a comprehensive, student-centered approach to instruction and support. Your core duties will include:Individualized Instruction: Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s academic level and behavioral needs.Behavioral Management: Develop and execute Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Use de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations safely. Knowledge of CPI training (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred.Classroom Culture: Establish a predictable, safe, and nurturing classroom routine that emphasizes positive reinforcement and emotional regulation.Data Collection: Maintain meticulous records of student progress, behavioral frequency, and academic growth to drive instructional decisions and IEP meetings.Collaboration: Lead and supervise a team of Paraprofessionals/Behavior Technicians. Consult regularly with school psychologists, social workers, and families to ensure a holistic approach.Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Integrate daily SEL instruction focusing on conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and coping strategies.Pedagogy & Curriculum:Proven understanding and experience with multi-sensory reading approaches, specifically trained in structured literacy language instruction such as UFLI, Orton-Gillingham, or other similar methodologies.In-depth knowledge and experience with the Eureka Squared curriculum.Proven ability to align instruction to the Next Generation Learning Standards.Classroom Environment & Professionalism:A demonstrated ability to provide equitable and culturally competent learning practices.Enjoys working with young children and can create an engaging, positive classroom atmosphere.A commitment to continuous professional growth and a collaborative mindset.Technology Integration:Ability to incorporate the Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards to enhance and augment technology-rich instruction.
