EFFECTIVE DATE: 2024-25 School Year Position: Assistant Athletic DirectorSTATUS: Probationary Location: DistrictJOB REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidate will be/have:A highly qualified leader, current and applicable NYS certification requiredEffective communicator (both written and oral)Knowledgeable and attentive to scholar, family, and school community needsDemonstrated leadership experience in an educational or clinical system with a focus on Physical Education,Health and AthleticsAbility to develop strong connections with educators, support services providers, scholars, families, and agencieswho support scholars and our DistrictNYS K-12 Physical Education CertificationMinimally 5 years experience as an Educator and Athletic Coach at various levels of teaching and coaching.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide each scholar with an ongoing program of physical education leading them to achieve and maintainphysical fitness and competence in the practice of physical skillProvide interscholastic, intramural and extracurricular activities for all K-12 scholars that will foster physical fitnessskills, and a knowledge and understanding of sports and the principles of fair play and character development.Assist leadership in effectively coordinating and supervising the 68 District interscholastic athletic teams and 120coaches.Assist leadership with all transfer documents pertaining to NYSPHSAA eligibility requirements.Assist leadership in effectively coordinating away competition and District shuttle transportation for allinterscholastic teams.Coordinate and oversee all District and community athletic/intramural facility usageAssist leadership in the development and evaluation of the programs of physical evaluation and athletics.Assisting leadership in creating yearly Athletic Budget.Assist in mediation and resolution of problems, issues and/or concerns which may arise and work collaborativelywith Administration with concerns inside and outside the school community.Develop schedules for personnel of this division in conjunction with other administrative personnelAssist in the observation and evaluation of teaching personnel in physical education and follow up with individualconferences.Assist in interviewing and recommending personnel to fill all positions in physical education and athletics, bothteaching and coaching.Oversee the scheduling of games, transportation, and officials.Set up and Supervise modified, junior varsity and varsity home and away athletic contestTraining, evaluating and mentoring educators and coaches.Assist in the responsibilities for proper designing, planning, use and maintenance of physical education andathletic facilities of the District.Ensure a safe and healthful environment for athletic activities and coordinate with the Buildings and Groundsdepartment as necessary.Customary duties associated with the positionSALARY: Pursuant to the Middletown School Administrators Association (MSAA) Contract
