EFFECTIVE DATE: 2023-24 School Year Position: Elementary Humanities Instructional LeaderSTATUS: ProbationaryLocation: DistrictJOB REQUIREMENTS: Current New York State School Building Leader (SBL), School Administration and Supervisor (SAS), or School District Administrator (SDA) certification; AND Master's Degree from an accredited institution; AND; Minimum of five years of successful and effective full-time teaching or school based instructional experience, OR minimum of three (3) years of school based or district administrative and supervisory experience. Strong written and oral communication skills, unquestioned integrity and a commitment to the vision, mission and goals of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, commitment to improve teaching and learning, and the ability to provide all students with a rigorous and active learning environment that will provide them with the attributes for college and career readiness. The position of the Instructional Leader is to provide a clear focus and priority on effective teaching and learning so that the school environment produces the necessary actions and behaviors to promote growth in student learning and make instructional quality the top priority of the school. The instructional leader will develop goals to provide a clear direction for the assigned instructional areas that will improve student academic outcomes and motivate others to join in student achievement as it moves toward providing instructional rigor and college and career readiness.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are in line with New York State and School District Policies, with specific attention and adherence to Policy 8110 (Curriculum Development, Resources and Evaluation).Ensure the academic program meets or exceeds yearly student outcome goals as defined by ECSDM and measured by the state of New York accountability requirements.Assist in the development and implementation of organizational goals and objectives consistent with the vision, mission and values of ECSDM.Maintain active involvement in the school improvement planning process with the Building Inquiry Team and the School Improvement Team by providing resources for decision-making and priority/goal setting.Lead teachers and work collaboratively with Department Chairs, Subject Matter Leaders and Core Leaders in developing a healthy/positive school culture aligned with the vision, mission and values of the school and school district.Create a culture of academic excellence, teamwork and collaboration amongst the staff, teachers, students and families.Foster a school climate that supports both student and staff success and promotes respect and appreciation for all students, staff and parents.Assist in creating an effective team of parents/caregivers, staff and community stakeholders who are committed to achieving excellence and are jointly responsible for the attainment of school and district goals.All other duties related to the position as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
