DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide leadership and direction toward a vision of ensuring that all scholars have access to participate and progress within effective instructional programs for students with disabilities (SWD)Oversee the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of programs for individuals who qualify for special education servicesSupervise, direct, and manage special education programs, staff, and services while remaining in compliance with IDEA and relevant lawsPartner district staff and building leaders to align goals to district priorities and ensure a cohesive approach to addressing scholar needsUse data to progress, monitor and improve the implementation of district and school-level special education and social emotional supportsKeep abreast of developments in special education and make decisions on staff and scholar issues regarding compliance and procedural safeguardsEvaluate the impact (through an equity lens) of existing systems and structures have on scholar achievement and social-emotional needsWork with families to promote and encourage the understanding of special education and serve as a resource for informationProvide ongoing implementation, oversight, and coordination of professional learning for all school and district staff around special education, SEL instruction and supports, including but not limited to training on IEP development, CSE procedures, restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and mental healthPerform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of SchoolsIndividual reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & InstructionSALARY: Pursuant to the Middletown School Administrators Association (MSAA) ContractApply through OLAS - https://www.olasjobs.org/ OR eMail resume, cover letter, certification, and all applicable transcripts, to: personnel.department1@ecsdm.org Application can be completed in-person at 223 Wisner Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE Candidates must submit to fingerprint clearance.The Enlarged City School District of Middletown is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against age, race, religion, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or protected veteran status in its hiring, educational programs and activities it operates.
