VACANCY NOTICE DATE: August 8, 2024POSITION TITLE: Director of TechnologyASSIGNMENT: Districtwide CLASSIFICATION: Civil Service – Classified CompetitiveSTART DATE: As Soon As Possible Qualifications: Must meet the Civil Service requirements for the Director of Technology titleBachelor’s degree in computer science or technology-related field, preferredFour years of management or administrative work experience in directing and planning for a technology support department, with two years including the direct supervision of technical staff, preferredStrong commitment to student learningBroad knowledge of instructional technology equipment and applications; on-line services, technology resources, and integration of technology across the curriculumKnowledge of the Next Generation Learning Standards and understanding of research based instructional practicesSuch alternatives to the above as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable Reports to: Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Coordinates: Network Administrator, Assistant Network Technician, LAN Technicians, Computer Services Assistants, Audio-Visual Specialists, Repair Technician, Sysops, and Technology Trainers Goal: To provide leadership in the implementation and coordination of the District’s technology plan; enhance instruction through technology across the curriculum; and to promote efficiency in the schools through the use of technology. Performance Responsibilities: Works cooperatively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Building Principals, and other professional staff in planning and implementing the effective use of technology across the curriculum Oversees and manages the departmental vision, initiatives, and budgetingWorks with professional staff and administration in evaluating and purchasing hardware and software to support the goals of the instructional program, in compliance with Education Law 2-d Promotes and coordinates technology training for teachers, students, administrators, and support staff throughout the District Oversees the process for installation and purchasing of computer hardware and software, and WAN and LAN networks, in cooperation with the technical support staff Oversees all aspects of the District 1:1 program: planning, purchasing, distribution, collection, and facilitation of student assembliesManages, reviews, and develops processes and procedures, as applicable, for the use of the District’s hardware and softwarePlans, coordinates, and implements procedures for Smart Schools Bond Act (SSBA) projects Coordinates and chairs bi-weekly meetings of the Technology Department and Facilitates quarterly meetings for the District Technology Planning Committee Develops and recommends policies, in conjunction with the Technology Planning Committee, regulating the purchase and use of technology within the District Reviews and approves all Technology Department budget requisitions and manages departmental purchasing Directs and evaluates the performance of Technology Department staff members in accordance with the current contractAttends District Professional Development Committee meetings as necessary to consult regarding technology training needs Participates in decision-making about school and District-level activities as a member of Administrative Council Acts as District representative to the BOCES Model Schools Committee Prepares status reports regarding the technology program for the Board of EducationDevelops and maintains the District webpage Supports the Assistant Superintendent in facilitating collaborative learning cycles to analyze local and state assessment dataOversees the coordination and transmission of State-required data elements through the development of internal best practicesMonitor compliance regarding data standards and maintenance of recordsAct as the liaison between the LEA and the regional Level 1 data centerEnsure the integrity and accuracy of data that impact accountability, funding, and public datasetsDevelop custom reports and data dashboards for data analysis using various datasets Performs other duties which may be assigned or required by law, code, regulation/board policy Terms of Employment: Full-time, probationary or provisional appointment Twelve-month position $85,000-$95,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience Competitive benefits package offered Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated through written feedback provided by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
