Position: Elementary School Nurse – full time, school calendar schedule.Qualifications: Appropriate New York State Registered Nurse License necessary.Salary Range: $76,983The Merrick School District is seeking a Registered Nurse to work 1:1 with an elementary student in a public-school setting. Pediatric nursing experience required, and school base experience is preferred.Student is trach/vent and G-tube dependent. The student uses a power wheelchair and communicates through an Augmentative and Alternative communication device. The hours are 8:15am-3:30pm. The nurse will be required to ride the bus in the AM and the PM with the student. The successful candidate will. Demonstrate an ability to build rapport and trust with the student Follow established routines and care plans with consistency Be responsible for driving the student’s power wheelchair Be responsible for use of a Hoyer lift for transfers during toileting and physical therapy Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, particularly when suctioning is needed Communicate effectively while working collaboratively with the family and school team Deadline Date: Please submit a cover letter and resume to hr@merrick.k12.ny.us, no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
