The Merrick Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Elementary General Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate fosters a love of music, creates engaging learning experiences, and builds foundational musical skills for all students. This educator values collaboration, creativity, and inclusive practices that support diverse learners. Responsibilities:• Teach general music curriculum (singing, movement, rhythm, instruments). • Create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment. • Teach fundamental musical concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and musical expression. • Incorporate singing, movement, instruments, and creative activities into daily instruction. • Knowledge of Quaver, Soundtrap, Noteflight, and SmartMusic. • Prepare and direct student choral performances such as concerts, assemblies, or special events. • Collaborate with staff and communicate with families.Qualifications:• Valid New York State Music Teaching Certification (K–12 or Elementary Music) • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Music Education.• Experience with elementary learners preferred. • Proficient vocal and piano skills preferred.Salary/Benefits:Competitive salary and full benefits per district contract.To Apply:Submit resume, letter of interest, certification, and references via OLAS by December 3, 2025.
