A vacancy exists for a Library Media Specialist full time, probationary appointment at Selden Middle School. Candidates must possess a valid NYS certification as a Library Media Specialist. Successful candidates should also possess the additional qualifications: Recommending and procuring resources for staff and students for use in meeting their instructional or learning objectives. Development of policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation, services, and facility use for a 21st century school library media program. Fostering a creative, flexible, and welcoming environment for staff and students including fostering a love for reading. Collaboration with staff to support district-wide instructional goals including those related to technology, research, and curriculum in all subject areas. Collaboration with other district library staff to ensure a cohesive district-wide school library media program. Engagement in professional development to ensure that the school library media program supports staff and students. The ability to support students and staff in the effective use of technology including the use of 1:1 Chromebooks and G-Suite. Evaluating, selecting, maintaining, and communicating digital and print collections including management of the library budget.
