Position Title: Assistant Principal (9-12 focus) Department: Administration Reports To: Principal Position Summary:The Assistant Principal is a key leadership position within our school, responsible for supporting the overall administration and management of our school's educational programs. This role places a particular emphasis on curriculum development and implementation, as well as overseeing the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure the academic success and well-being of all students. Primary Responsibilities: Curriculum Leadership:Collaborate with teachers, department heads, and grade level facilitators to develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state and district standards.Provide guidance and support in the selection of instructional materials, resources, and technology tools that enhance the curriculum.Conduct regular curriculum reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement and adjustment. Professional Development:Facilitate professional development sessions for teachers focused on effective instructional strategies and the integration of curriculum resources.Stay current on educational research, best practices, and emerging trends to inform professional development opportunities for staff.Support teachers in implementing innovative and evidence-based teaching methods. Data Analysis and Assessment:Collaborate with teachers to analyze student performance data and identify trends and areas for improvement.Utilize assessment data to inform instructional decisions and adapt curriculum as needed.Implement and monitor assessment strategies to measure student progress and achievement. MTSS Implementation:Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to address the academic and behavioral needs of all students.Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to develop and implement intervention strategies for students at risk.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of MTSS initiatives and make data-driven adjustments as necessary. Student Discipline and Behavior Management:Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to maintain a positive and safe school culture.Implement and enforce school policies related to student behavior, discipline, and attendance.Collaborate with teachers and counselors to develop and implement behavior intervention plans. Administrative Duties:Assist in daily administrative tasks and decision-making.Collaborate with other school administrators to ensure a cohesive and effective school leadership team.Support the principal in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures. Qualifications:Master's degree with Valid administrative certification/license - SDA/SBL.Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably as an assistant principal or in a similar curriculum based role.Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational best practices.Familiarity with MTSS/AIS/RtI frameworks and implementation.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
