Reports to: Superintendent of Schools Job Responsibilities: Establish, maintain, and supervise appropriate procedures which ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations pertaining to the education of classified children. Assist in the recruitment, selection, assigning, and evaluation of all special education personnel. Chair all CSE meetings for K-12 students and perform all associated duties. Coordinate and supervise the development of all IEPs in order to provide appropriate services to classified students. Supervisor of all special education programs, including scheduling, staffing and evaluationWrite and plan for Grants - 611 and 619, Title 1 and 2A, IVPrepare and submit Federal and State reports pertaining to special education students and relative programs, as needed. Preparation and oversight of the Consolidated Application for ESSA-Funded ProgramsTeaching Assistant Supervision: Schedules and evaluates all teaching assistants and is the liaison with the union on any personnel issues Supervise and evaluate School PsychologistsSupervise and evaluate School Counselors Certify the PCG claiming system for Medicaid claims, (Pre-school/School Supportive Health Services Program ) SSHSP coordinatorENL (ELL) program development and supervision of staff Complete and file the CR Part 154 - Comprehensive ELL Education PlanProvide Homeschool oversight and documentationOversee any staff providing homebound instruction and verify timeWork with Data Coordinator to insure verification of any state reporting as it relates to duties Other Duties as assigned by Superintendent of Schools504 CoordinatorCommunicate program and individual student needs to other school staff, such as principals, counselors or transportation personnel as needed. Evaluate all aspects of the special education programs and services on an ongoing basis, with appropriate recommendations for improvement to the Superintendent. Develop recommendations for the district budget relative to the needs of the special education department. Coordinate the continuity of special education programming from building to building. Act as the liaison to the external agencies that could provide special education services to the district’s students. Provide leadership in developing and maintaining positive communication with parents.Facilitate the participation of school staff in relevant workshops or training in order to strengthen educational practices. Coordinate monthly special education staff meetings. Write monthly reports to the Superintendent and Board of Education regarding special education.Revise the District’s Special Education Plan bi-annually. Perform other related duties or special assignments that the superintendent may designate.Assist Principals with creating master schedules and decision-making as it pertains to students with disabilities.Assist Principals with RTI/AIS. Attend Special Education Council meetings at BOCES.
