ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT for HUMAN RESOURCES12-Month Probationary Position START DATE: July 1, 2024LOCATION: District OfficeREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, this District Office Cabinet level position is responsible for all aspects of the district’s comprehensive human resources function impacting all instructional staff and non-instructional personnel. The Assistant Superintendent must have a strong understanding of best practices in personnel and human resources administration. QUALIFICATIONS:Valid NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) Certification.Distinguished experience in a school leadership position is required.Demonstrated record of success as a teacher preferred.Working knowledge and understanding of New York State Education Laws integral to human resources administration.Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES and SKILLS INCLUDE:Demonstrated knowledge of New York State Education Law, New York State Civil Service Law and legal requirements of personnel administration, collective bargaining, contract, wage and benefits administration, employee relations, current human resources technology tools, and employee data systems.Facilitating recruitment and selection processes for all instructional and non-instructional personnel.Expertise in APPR supervision/evaluation requirements, including the Marshall Rubric.Knowledge of New York State certification requirements for instructional positions.Working knowledge of Nassau County Civil Service Commission rules and regulations.Assisting with the development of the annual school district budget including projections of required staffing levels.Serving as liaison with legal counsel regarding workplace personnel matters.Communicating and collaborating with administrators regarding personnel matters.Maintaining positive and professional relationships with bargaining unit leadership, administrators, and community members.Performing all other responsibilities, duties, and projects as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
