The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, detail-oriented, and possesses extensive knowledge of school district special education programs and services for students from 3 years of age to 22 years of age.LOCATION: District OfficeREPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the Executive Director is not a member of an employee union. The Executive Director is responsible for the administration and supervision of the District’s comprehensive student services programs, related services and personnel. The Executive Director provides direct supervision of all student services administrators and supervisors; provides overall supervision of Special Education teachers, registered nurses, teaching assistants, speech teachers, school psychologists, school social workers, school guidance counselors, office support staff, and additional employees reporting to the Executive Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Valid NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) Certification.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Special Education/PPS leadership position.Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Special Education teacher, or School Psychologist, possessing valid NYS certification in that area.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities. ILLUSTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:The Executive Director’s performance responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Directing and monitoring Individual Education Plan (IEP) and all Section 504 processes;Coordinating compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities;Coordinating Homeschooling, Home and Hospital Instruction health and welfare services, special transportation services,Monitoring out-of-district placements and related services;Supervising departmental administrative staff, support staff and CSE/CPSE Chairpersons;Completing performance observations of department personnel;Evaluating annually the performance of all program personnel, including all special education teachers, speech teachers, school psychologists, school social workers, school guidance counselors, registered nurses, teaching assistants; developing plans for performance improvement, as needed;Participating in the recruitment, selection, scheduling and ongoing supervision of staff assigned to the various programs;Coordinating professional development opportunities for all staff;Serving as the District’s DASA Coordinator;Overseeing the District's Social-Emotional Wellness Program;Supervising the District's Central Registration office and related functions;Establishing goals for students and monitoring their progress;Communication and collaborating with Principals and other administrators regarding student programs and assignments for department personnel;Serving as the District's COVID Coordinator, as needed;Analyzing all student and program data for State / Federal reporting and program evaluation purposes;Overseeing financial services including budgeting, invoicing, State Aid, grants, and Medicaid in Education.Performing all other responsibilities, duties and projects as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee(s).
