Notice of Anticipated VacancyMay 18, 2023 School Social Worker Manhasset Schools: District Wide.This position is available September 1st, 2023 Position Description: Responsible for supporting students and advocating for each student’s emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, and educational growth. The duties include but are not limited to:Providing direct support to students in the form of individual counseling, group counseling, conflict mediation, and crisis intervention.Offering strategies to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situationsAssisting in the development of positive behavioral intervention strategiesCollaborating with faculty, staff, and administration to understand student’s struggles and/or distressProviding faculty and staff with training on mental health supports, including restorative practices, crisis intervention, and mandated reportingContributing member of educational meetings to include social histories and documentation of social and emotional wellbeingScheduling home visits with families on an as-needed basis to address attendance and/or other socio-emotional concernsIdentifying and providing students and families with appropriate information and referrals for State, regional, and community-based services (e.g., mental health services, housing, food, etc.)Supporting the school community during crisis events/situations Qualifications: Appropriate New York State Certification is required. This is a 10-month position.
