POSITION AVAILABLE: 4/27/2026 - 6/22/2026 (Anticipated dates) The Reading AIS teacher provides small-group, targeted instruction to students who have not met proficiency benchmarks in literacy. The teacher uses diagnostic and formative assessments to develop individualized plans for instruction. S/he uses research-based instructional strategies to remediate gaps in students’ skills and conceptual understanding. The Reading AIS teacher is responsible for direct and close communication with classroom teachers, other service providers, administrators, and parents/guardians. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs Communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds Encourage family involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and families Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Communicate effectively orally and in writing Implement a range of reading intervention models, including Reading Recovery, Fundations, Wilson, and multi-sensory approaches. Use tiered Response to Intervention (RTI) model and associated NYS regulations. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING): Literacy Specialist / Reading Specialist N-6 Teaching License Special Education Reading Recovery Certificate desirable REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
