RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students Provide direct instruction and in-the-moment coaching in academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and self-regulation skills. Effectively use tools and systems to progress monitor all aspects of the students’ learning. Facilitate positive behavior reinforcement and classroom management systems. Work collaboratively with teachers, related services providers, support staff, and parents on behalf of student success. Differentiate lesson plans within the class environment, utilizing relevant technology and instructional materials. Participate in CPSE evaluations and assessments. IEP Development, including assessment, goals, modifications, and accommodations POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in a Preschool or primary classroom setting. Strong understanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and task analysis Knowledge of high-leverage special education practices Experience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring, and identification of modifications/accommodations Strong communication skills In-depth knowledge of social-emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcoming Possession of an appropriate New York State Teacher Certification REQUIREMENTS: NYS Special Education Certification for Birth - Grade 2 REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Special Education Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
