Monitor the implementation of special education programs to ensure an appropriate and equitable education for all identified students, reflecting current best practices and effective social emotional learning approaches. In partnership with school administrators, provide supervision, guidance, and evaluation of special education staff.Assist in the planning, organizing and implementation of professional development and a strategic plan that addresses identified areas of need.Proactive communication with families and staff. Assist in the coordination of related services.Chair initial CSE meetings and monitor IEP mandated requirements.Assist with keeping accurate enrollment data of students requiring special education services within the district, non-public, and out of district, and tuition students from other communities.Assists in the development and monitoring of the budget for the Office of Student Support Services, and grants (i.e. Pre-K; IDEA).Supports in the monitoring of IDEA grant expenditures, STAC reports and NY State Reporting.Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Asst Superintendent for Student Support Services. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Valid New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS)/ School District Administrator (SDA) certification.Knowledge of New York State Part 200 Regulations, 504 Regulations, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and IEP mandates.Strong understanding of how to support curriculum modifications and scaffolds based on student need. Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes.Capable of implementing rigorous instructional strategies that set high expectations for teachers and all students with disabilities.Knowledge of and experience with implementing multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS).Experience with secondary schools preferred.
