RESPONSIBILITIES: CSE Chair and IEP DevelopmentConducting evaluationsCounseling Crisis management and interventionCollaboration and consultation with families and school staffOther professional tasks as designated by the Director of Special Education or Building Principal POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Psychologist CertificationKnowledge and experience in conducting psycho educational assessmentStrong written, verbal, organizational, collaborative, and leadership skillsStrong understanding of positive behavior supports and strategies to promote positive school environmentsExperience with IEP development - developing goals, progress monitoring, and identification of appropriate supports through modifications/accommodations In depth knowledge of social emotional learning (SEL) approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate an environment that is affirming and welcomingAbility to effectively communicate with an Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthCollaboration with multidisciplinary teams (i.e., administrators, teachers, social workers) to address students’ needs throughout the school day REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Special Education Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
