Fostering and maintaining these beliefs supports high expectations and an ethic of care for all students and employees – where differences are seen as strengths to be nourished, celebrated, and welcomed.RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive and relevant lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement aligned to National and State Core Arts Standards in MusicConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needsCommunicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthSet goals, objectives, and activities that would maintain and develop the overall quality of the program.Work in a collaborative teaching environment with departmental colleagues districtwide to maintain and enhance the quality of music instruction for orchestra and general music students.Utilize relevant technology (including Garageband, Ableton Push Units, Makey-Makey, SoundTrap) and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of the NYS Core Arts in Music learning standardsCandidate must be dedicated and passionate about teaching and developing student musicians; with the ability to recruit, attract, and retain orchestra membersSuccessful teaching and conducting experience at the middle school level and knowledge of all string instrumentsAbility to teach a sequential and well paced curriculum in orchestral & general musicAbility to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunitiesPossession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
