Fostering and maintaining these beliefs supports high expectations and an ethic of care for all students and employees – where differences are seen as strengths to be nourished, celebrated, and welcomed.SCHOOL: Hommocks Middle SchoolRESPONSIBILITIES:Collaboration and communication to implement strategies and practices as directed by the special education teacher or school psychologist.Support the student’s academic, emotional and behavioral needs as indicated by the IEPProvide the teacher with information about student that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiencesAttend therapies outside of the classroom with the student and support the student in applying learned strategies in the classroom.Assist with related instructional work as requiredMaintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirementsPerforms general tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready REQUIREMENTS: Must be certified as a Teaching Assistant in NYS.
