LOCATION: Mamaroneck High SchoolREQUIREMENTS:Possession of appropriate New York State Special Education Teacher Certification (Special Education K-12, Special Education Permanent, SWD 7-12)Dual Certification in Science preferred, but not requiredHigh School experience is preferred, but not requiredRESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive and relevant lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagementConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needsCommunicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthUtilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleaguesEncourage family involvement in each student’s education, and ensure effective communication with students and families Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planningCommunicate effectively orally and in writingMeet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and statePOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Strong understanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and task analysisKnowledge of high leverage special education practicesExperience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring and identification of modifications/accommodations In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcomingThorough knowledge of the NYS Learning StandardsKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomesAbility to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunitiesCOMPENSATION: In accordance with the Agreement between the Board of Education and the Mamaroneck Teachers’ Association.Apply on OLAS Ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
