RESPONSIBILITIES: (Spanish zone teacher, all instruction must be conducted in Spanish)Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement.Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthUtilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleaguesDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgroundsEncourage family involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and familiesPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planningCommunicate effectively orally and in writingPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcomingThorough knowledge of the NYS elementary learning standardsDeep understanding of the biliteracy development of bilingual studentsKnowledge of the strategies and pedagogy around biliteracy developmentKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthDemonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining FrameworksAbility to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certifications (Gen Ed./Bilingual Extension) REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
