The Mahopac Central School District anticipates the following probationary position for the 2026/2027 School Year: Physical Education/Adaptive Physical Education Teacher – District Wide We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Education teacher who has experience providing Adaptive Physical Education (APE) to students with diverse abilities. The PE/APE Teacher will develop and implement lessons/units that promote physical fitness, motor skills, and overall well-being in an inclusive and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Design and implement individualized physical education programs based on students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals Adapt curriculum, equipment, and teaching strategies to meet diverse physical and developmental needs Collaborate with other PE teachers, special education teachers, therapists, and support staff Highly skilled in differentiating instruction to personalize learning to meet the diverse needs of all students Experience with collaborative lesson planning, and team-teaching Experience designing student-centered lessons and engaging curricula that individually challenges students and inspires them to grow Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, or related field (Master’s preferred) Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (Adaptive PE endorsement desired) Experience working with students with disabilities in a school or therapeutic setting Knowledge of IEP goal development and implementation Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills The Mahopac Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
