The Mahopac Central School District seeks to fill the following probationary position: Director for Special Education â DistrictwideThe Mahopac Central School District is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and student-focused educational leader to serve as the Director of Special Education. This 12 month position is directly responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs and student support services district-wide. The director will ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and foster inclusive practices that support academic and social-emotional success for all students.Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership and oversight for all special education programs and related services (Pre Kâ12) including out-of-district placementsSupervise, support, and evaluate special education staff, including school psychologists, social workers, related service providers, special education teachers, special education administrative team, and departmental clerical supportEnsure compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws, including IDEA and Section 504, grant applications, preschool special education, and Medicaid Collaborate with building administrators to develop and implement inclusive instructional practices that support students and staffCoordinate the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans and chair CSE and 504 meetings as neededServe as the district liaison to external agencies, including the Department of Education and mental health providersWork collaboratively to build a comprehensive, thoughtful budget that strengthens programs and offerings to studentsLead and/or coordinate professional development initiatives for special education and general education staff including Teaching Assistants, Teacher AidesMonitor data on student outcomes and use it to inform program improvements Qualifications:Valid NYS administrative certification- SDA or SDLMinimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory roleThorough knowledge of special education laws, regulations, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and best practicesStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with creative ideas, the ability to collaborate with others, and provide a visible presence throughout the districtSalary and Benefits:Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications in accordance with the Association of Mahopac Administrators (AMA) contractThe Mahopac Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Anyone interested in applying for the above-mentioned position should complete an application on OLAS and visit the Human Resources page of the Mahopac website no later than June 27, 2025.
