The Mahopac Central School District seeks to fill the following position:Leave Replacement Special Education TeacherMahopac High SchoolAnticipated effective dates: Immediate through 5/30/2025: Two consecutive assignments: Immediate through March 10th and March 11th through May 30thQualifications:Must hold a NY State teaching certificate in special education grades 9-12. NY State Earth Science 9-12 also preferred.Has experience working in a school setting providing data driven instruction for children with academic, behavioral and communication needs.Demonstrates extensive knowledge of; explicit special education instruction across all academic domains including language, adaptive skills, self management skills and behavior.Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with students to facilitate increased independence by promoting the generalization of skills with decreased adult promptingDemonstrates the ability to work cooperatively and actively communicate with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parentsDemonstrates the ability to plan, schedule, and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously; including the tasks to be implemented by support staff assigned to the classDemonstrates superior written and oral communication skills.Demonstrates the ability to design and develop IEPs, safety plans, and update behavior intervention plans in consultation with school clinicianDemonstrates the ability to use Evidenced based instructional strategies and/or curriculum differentiated to meet the unique students in the classKnowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniquesResponsibilities include:Ensuring that a variety of explicit instruction methods with all students is utilizedEnsuring that students motivational and reinforcement systems are managedAttending CSE meetings and other relevant meetings with parents;Collecting, summarizing, and evaluating data on skill acquisition programs and behavior intervention plans, including written reports and visual graphic displays of dataAssisting with development, implementation, and review of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all assigned studentsManaging and organizing educational and teaching materials within the classroom environmentManaging and working with teaching assistants and aides to meet the academic and daily living skills of students.Effective communication with students and families.
