The Liverpool Central School District is seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic Crew Leader (HELP Program) to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet, including school buses, passenger vehicles, and heavy equipment. This is a working lead position; you will diagnose complex mechanical issues, assign and inspect the work of the team, and perform master-level repairs. Key Responsibilities Supervision: Lead, instruct, and inspect the work of Automotive Mechanics and Helpers to ensure high-quality repairs and fleet safety. Technical Leadership: Diagnose engine (gas/diesel), transmission, and hydraulic failures; perform specialized welding and master-level mechanical repairs. Operations: Manage shop safety and order, maintain detailed repair records, and handle requisitions for parts and fuel. Administration: Review employee timesheets, maintain maintenance logs, and assist with annual budget requests. Qualifications Skills: Expert knowledge of gasoline/diesel engines and heavy equipment; ability to lead a crew and manage shop records. Special Requirement: Must possess a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle types operated by the District. Note: Must be able to perform NYS inspections for light and heavy vehicles. Open-Competitive: Five (5) years of full-time work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment.
