The Lindenhurst Union Free School District (UFSD) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the District’s Director of Fine and Performing Arts. The Director will supervise all art and music programs throughout the district in grades K through 12. Job responsibilities include:To direct, develop, implement, and monitor the delivery of Music, Art, Dance, and related programs to students in grades K-12. Supervision of staff and curriculum and instruction of all Fine & Performing Arts programs K-12. To maintain a regular public presence at district music, art, and dance performances, exhibits, and presentations, including monthly community forums. Hiring and evaluating marching band staff each season. Serving as a liaison between the Lindenhurst Marching Band Parents Association (BPA) and the Lindenhurst Public Schools.Work closely with the Director of Facilities on maintaining the high school auditorium and all performance spaces throughout the district.Planning and conducting regular department meetings in all K-12 buildings.Coordinating student participation in NYSCAME, SCMEA, LISFA, NYSSMA, and any other county, state, or national music and art organization festivals.Involvement in the interviewing, selection, orientation, and training of all new teachers in the department.Coordinate staffing and scheduling K-12 with the individual building needs and communicate with Principals and the Office of Instructional Personnel.Hiring, managing, evaluating, and assigning house managers to operate the high school auditorium light and sound equipment during all auditorium uses.Working with individual building administration and PTA’s to manage and provide BOCES Arts in Education and Exploratory Programs throughout the year. Maintaining accurate financial records and working one on one with BOCES personnel to hire appropriate and worthwhile presenters to enhance the educational experience of our students K-12.To promote and continue to grow the overall student enrollment in the department K-12.All applicants must possess the appropriate NYS district level administrative certification.
