Learning Specialist (Reading) Probationary (2025/2026)The role of the learning specialist is to provide students with academic support. Learning specialists will work closely with students, teachers, guidance counselors, and building administrators to create and foster a positive environment for student success. Successful candidates will: Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, guidance counselors, parents and building administrators Have strong content knowledge of elementary curriculum across all subject areas Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within the District Provide direction for the pedagogical delivery of the curriculum consistent with District initiatives and recognized Next Generation Learning Standards Support students in understanding curriculum and assessment Provide differentiated lessons to students based on their individual needs Administer benchmark assessments in order to identify student’s strengths and weaknesses and help design a custom support plan based on student’s individual needs. Empower teachers in the utilization of data to target and improve instruction on all levels Interpret the results of diagnosis to students, parents, teachers and other faculty Help teachers in the classroom make use of information from diagnosis in their teaching. Demonstrate the ability to work with children of all ages who are dealing with various learning troubles Display highly effective communication skills geared to various age groups Four (4) years of classroom experience preferred.
