Position: Director for Physical Education and Health Education Start Date: August 27, 2026 Position Description: Levittown Public Schools seeks a dedicated and experienced educator to join our leadership team, committed to “Success for Every Student.” The Director of Physical Education and Health Education will provide leadership, vision, and oversight for the district’s K–12 Physical Education and Health Education programs, while supporting student health and wellness across the district. Qualifications: Valid NYS SDL certification and NYS certifications in Physical Education required Additional certification in Health Education preferred Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage resources, and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides leadership and oversight of the district’s K–12 Physical Education and Health Education programs, including curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. Supervises, supports, and evaluates Physical Education and Health Education staff in accordance with district policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Advances high-quality instructional practices through department meetings, professional learning, and ongoing support for staff. Develops and monitors departmental budgets for Physical Education and Health Education. Assists with the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and mentoring of Physical Education and Health Education personnel. Ensures compliance with applicable New York State Education Department requirements, regulations, standards, and district policies related to Physical Education and Health Education. Maintains current knowledge of regulations, professional standards, research, and best practices related to Physical Education, Health Education, school health, wellness, and athletics. Oversees the scheduling and use of Physical Education facilities, athletic facilities, fields, and related spaces. Provides supervision and support to athletic chairpersons.
