Start Date: July 1, 2026 Position Description: Levittown Public Schools seeks a dedicated and experienced educator to join our leadership team, committed to “Success for Every Student.” The Director for Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the district’s special education programs. The position focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening instructional practices, implementing the district’s strategic mission for special education, and fostering collaborative partnerships to support the academic, social, and emotional success of all students with disabilities. The Director for Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Administration. Qualifications: Valid NYS SDL certification and NYS certification in special education Strong communication, problem-solving, human relations, and conflict resolution skills Experience developing and managing special education programs for students with diverse needs In-depth knowledge of state and federal special education laws Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with the oversight of the district’s special education programs, ensuring the effective development, implementation, and evaluation of services for students with disabilities. Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and/or external agencies on matters related to special education, fostering strong, collaborative relationships. Chair Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, as assigned, ensuring compliance with federal and New York State laws and regulations. Supervise and evaluate assigned staff, including psychologists, behavior specialists, and related service providers. Ensure appropriate special education programming and placement recommendations, aligned with students’ individual needs and least restrictive environment (LRE) requirements. Maintain clear and responsive communication with all stakeholders, addressing concerns and supporting problem-solving in a professional and timely manner. Collaborate with district and building administrators to support program development, professional learning, and compliance, including matters related to student discipline and service delivery.
