REQUIREMENTS: NYS Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities (All Grades) RESPONSIBILITIES: The Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum. Conduct speech/language evaluations and assess students’ communication skills. Working with students with a variety of learning, physical and auditory disabilities or disorders that adversely affect their educational performance. Identifying students who may be at risk for future communication challenges. Treating students with speech and language issues in the development or support of IEPs. Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress. Build and manage trusting relationships with students, parents, and school staff. Keep parents informed of student progress. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student. Provide in-class and at-home assignments. Collaborate with teachers on building, evolving lesson plans for a more consistent student learning experience. START: ~September 1, 2026 SALARY: as per the Teachers contract
