REQUIREMENTS: NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (All Grades); Life Skills Program RESPONSIBILITIES : The Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum. Develop and present curriculum lesson plans in support of student IEPs (course materials and related activities) and assignments to students. Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs. Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress. Build and manage trusting relationships with students, parents, and school staff. Keep parents informed of student progress through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the lesson plans. Collaborate with teachers on building, evolving lesson plans for a more consistent student learning experience. Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own. Working with students individually if they need extra help and support. QUALIFICATIONS : Experience as a Special Education Life Skills teacher is preferred. Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Proven leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail (Maintain accurate records, reports). Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students. Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partner with students & parents in the learning process. START: September 1, 2026 SALARY: According to the LVSEA Teachers Contract
