Requirements:NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities 7-12 NYS Certification in Mathematics 5-9 preferredResponsibilities: The leave replacement teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum. • Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans (in support of students IEPs) provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. • Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own. • Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs. • Working with students individually if they need extra help and support. • Adapt mathematics curriculum for individuals and small groups. • Instructing and guiding students on how to solve mathematical equations and concepts. • Develop and use flexible teaching tools and methods to help students learn mathematics. • Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback. • Develop and design lesson plans and assignments in support of students IEPs. • Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.
