REQUIREMENTS:NYS Certification Family and Consumer ScienceRESPONSIBILITIES:The Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Teach students FACS topics which includes nutrition/meal planning/food preparation, household management, personal finances (budgeting and financial literacy) child development (parenting skills) and consumer awareness.Stay up-to-date on current trends and research in family and consumer sciences.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Assess, evaluate and track student progress through in-class/at-home assignments, projects and exams.Effective and ongoing communication with parents, colleagues and administration.Attending meetings and maintaining professional development standards.QUALIFICATIONS:Experience teaching Secondary Family and Consumer Science preferred with a valid NYS FACS certification.Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science, Education or related field.Proven leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.
