The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Social Studies (HS) Teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:Managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and proceduresDeveloping and implementing lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s social studies curriculum program.Teaching students different aspects of social studies which includes and is not limited to history, geography, politics.Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own.Preparing and grading exams, assignments and papers to evaluate students’ progress.Communicate with parents and guardians to discuss students progress and behavior.Participate in school activities, faculty meetings and parent-teacher conferences.Continually updating teaching skills and knowledge through any development activities.Start Date and Benefits:Anticipated start date of January 16, 2025 through June 30, 2025. Benefits are in accordance with the LVSEA Teachers contract. Qualifications:Minimum of 2+ years experience as a High School Social Studies Teacher.Bachelor's degree in Education with a specialization in Social Studies or related field.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:Valid NYS Certification in Social Studies K-12Salary:In accordance with the LVSEA Teachers contract.Interested Candidates:Submit a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.
