The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Long-Term Substitute ChemistryTeacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Work Hours and Benefits:This position is a long-term substitute position in our High School with an anticipated start date of Sep 30, 2024 through Nov 1, 2024. There are no benefits. Interested candidates must provide 2 professional references.Qualifications:In depth knowledge of Science/Chemistry.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Emotional stability and strong problem-solving skills.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Chemistry (7-12).Salary:$175 per day.Posting Deadline:September 27, 2024
