The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Special Education Teacher (Probationary) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The Special Education Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop and design lesson plans and assignments in support of students IEPs.Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs.Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback.Working with students individually if they need extra help and support.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own.Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Start Date and Benefits:Anticipated start date of Sep 3, 2024. Benefits are in accordance with the LVSEA Teachers contract. Qualifications:Experience working in Special Education.
