The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for Part-Time Bus Attendants to join our team.Duties and Responsibilities:Supervises children and maintains order on the school bus to ensure safety and discipline; performs related duties as required.Supervise the loading and unloading of buses at various stopping points. Maintains order on the bus and makes certain that the children are seated while the bus is in motion. Assist the bus driver in communicating with parents and school staff/faculty.Enforce safety fuels and policies on the bus.Helps children cross roads (as appropriate) safely.Reporting any incidents and/or injuries that occur on the bus. If any incidents occur, produce summary reports of the incident for the school. Maintain accurate student attendance and behavior on the bus.Assist students with special needs/mobility issues (if appropriate).May assist children in the lower grades with getting on the bus and assisting with seat-belts.Work Hours and Benefits: 8:00AM - 9:00AM and 2:30PM - 4:30PM The position may be with our Elementary, Middle or High School with an anticipated start date of September 3, 2024. There are no benefits. Qualifications:Experience working with children is preferred.Comfortable working on a moving vehicle. Good leadership and communication skills. Ability to follow simple oral and written directions. Active listening skills.Ability to be firm yet courteous with the public.Ability to get along well with children, school staff/faculty. Some knowledge of first aid methods.Dependable.Observant of surroundings to help take action or proactive measures to assist students.Good physical condition. Will be on your feet most of the time. Training and Education:Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments.Salary:Hourly rate: $17.00 depending on experience.Interested candidates:Submit a cover letter of interest (indicate preference for Elementary, Middle or High School),resume and 2 professional references.Screening Requirements:Candidates that successfully complete interviews will be required to take and pass a physical performance test. Candidates will also be required to complete a 4 hour pre-service basic safety training and a 10 hour Basic course safety training.Fingerprint approval by the division for criminal justice services (DCJS)
