The Long Beach School District, based on the South Shore of Nassau County, serves students from Long Beach, East Atlantic Beach, Lido Beach, Point Lookout and high school students from Island Park. A total of 3,400 students are enrolled in prekindergarten to grade 12. Position: Probationary Guidance Counselor Location: Long Beach High School Responsibilities: • Guide students through post-secondary planning • Assist with college applications, essays and letters of recommendation • Facilitate use of platforms such as Schoolinks for planning and tracking outcomes • Coordinate college visits, fairs, and financial aid programs • Provide short-term counseling and crisis response for students • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and external providers • Maintain accurate student records and transcripts • Monitor graduation requirements, including Regents exams and pathways • Serve as primary liaison between school and home regarding student progress and • planning • Facilitate parent meetings, workshops and information sessions • Support equity in access to rigorous coursework and post-secondary opportunities • Contribute to school-improvement planning and counseling program development • Participation in CSE/504/MTSS meetings Qualifications: • Expertise in New York State graduation requirements • Proficiency in SchoolTool, Schoolinks, Google Classroom and CANVA • Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills • Familiar with College Admission processes Certifications: Masters of Education in School Counseling Compensation: According to the LBCTA contract, MA/Step 1 $74,542 * *subject to negotiations Apply: www.olasjobs.org Posting date : April 29, 2026 Closing date : May 11, 2026 LONG BEACH PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
