The Long Beach School District, based on the South Shore of Nassau County, serves students from Long Beach, East Atlantic Beach, Lido Beach, Point Lookout and high school students from Island Park. The following position is anticipated to be available beginning July 1, 2026: Position: Probationary Coordinator of Special Education – (11 months) Location: Districtwide Qualifications: Oversee and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Knowledge of Frontline data management system Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including IDEA and NYSED Part 200 Facilitate and/or chair Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meetings Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to support student needs Monitor timelines for evaluations, annual reviews, and reevaluations Coordinate special education services, including related services and program placements Support staff in implementing evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies, (accommodations, modifications, differentiation of instruction). Analyze student data to inform programming and improve student outcomes Provide professional development and coaching to staff on special education best practices Supervision and evaluation of special education staff, as assigned, Experience with the Danielson Rubric Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and outside agencies Support the development and oversight of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Knowledge of Discipline of Students with Disabilities, Manifestation Determination Experience/Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention Participate in audits, program reviews, and compliance monitoring activities Determine staffing needs and collaborate with the Assistant Director in hiring Support, supervise PPS staff and evaluate as requested Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Special Education and/or Executive Director Certifications: * NYS School District Leader (SDL) * Valid Certification in Special Education or related Pupil Personnel areas.
