Position: Probationary High School Guidance Counselor Effective date: September 1, 2025 with a few summer days Location: Long Beach High School Requirements: NYS School Counseling Certification.Utilize SchoolTool for scheduling, grade monitoring, attendance, and student information management.Support students in college and career planning using Schoolinks, facilitating goal-setting, interest inventories, and post-secondary planning.Collaborate with special education staff, service providers, families, and OPWDD to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate supports for students.Participate in CSE/504 meetings and contribute to evaluations, progress monitoring, and post-secondary recommendations.Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies.Conduct classroom presentations on topics such as college readiness, mental health, and career exploration.Crisis intervention and support as needed, including participation in the school's mental health response team.Maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with NYSED regulations and district policies.
