RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs the duties of a School District Clerk as specified in §2121 of NYS Education LawManages all activities related to Board of Education meetings and work sessions, including, but not limited to: developing the agenda, preparing and distributing board packets and all required information prior to meetings, preparing meeting room arrangementsAttends all Board of Education meetings, takes notes and prepares official minutes of Board of Education meetings and proceedings, and distributes minutes to board members and school personnelDrafts correspondence, communications, reports, and other memoranda for the Board of Education and SuperintendentMaintains and updates Board of Education policies, coordinates and attends all policy meetingsHandles all activities relating to the annual budget vote and voter registry, hires and trains election staffServes as Notary Public to the Board and district staff members for notarial certification of forms, reports, etc.Records Access Officer, receives and responds to FOIL requestsAccepts service of legal documents, prepares legal notices, handles appeals to the Board of EducationHandles Superintendent Suspension Hearings; coordinates hearings with school administration and hearing officer; prepares notices and correspondenceGeneral clerical duties, including: phones, mail, calendar, setting up meetings, preparing purchase orders and ensuring timely processing of legal and vendor paymentsAdditional duties as assigned by the Board of Education or Superintendent of SchoolsPrior district clerk experience preferredREQUIREMENTSAbility to understand and interpret complex oral and written instructionsProven ability to exhibit exceptional level of professionalism, confidentiality, tact and courtesy, especially when working with the publicAbility to consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy and to independently solve complex confidential issues commensurate with the positionCompletion of at least two years of college and/or school office experienceCandidate must either possess a license as Notary Public in the State of New York at the time of appointment, or must obtain said license within one (1) year of appointment, and must maintain the license for the duration of employmentAbility to work long hours, including eveningsFingerprint clearanceCOMPENSATION: $60,000 - $70,000Please make sure to attach resume and cover letter
