POSITION: Special Education Teacher – Aspire QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess demonstrated experience and expertise in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including knowledge of the characteristics of autism and the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices. Candidates should be skilled in: Designing and implementing environmental and instructional adaptations to support student success; Utilizing effective strategies to enhance communication, social interaction, and functional skill development; Implementing positive behavior support systems, including the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs); Applying evidence-based methodologies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), and other research-supported instructional approaches; Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families to support student growth and achievement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Autism-specific training and experience; Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or comparable crisis de-escalation training; Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training and experience; Experience working with elementary-aged students with complex learning, communication, and behavioral needs. REQUIREMENTS: Valid New York State Certification: Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2) and/or Students with Disabilities (Grades 1–6), or equivalent Special Education certification Dual Certification preferred TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Probationary LOCATION: Van Cortlandtville Elementary School ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 31, 2026
