VACANCY: Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education 6-12 POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Lakeland Central School District is seeking a visionary Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education to provide leadership in curriculum development, instructional improvement, professional learning, and technology integration for Grades 6–12. The Director will lead strategic planning, oversee the implementation of curriculum and assessments, and ensure alignment and coherence across all secondary schools to advance the district’s instructional vision. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid NYS School District Administrator Certification; Master’s Degree required. Doctoral degree preferred; Proven successful teaching experience at the secondary level; Demonstrated leadership in secondary curriculum, instruction, and assessment; Experience in Middle School and High School preferred; Strong foundation in learning theory and evidence-based instructional practices; Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills; Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others; Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills; Experience with educational technology planning and integration; Proven ability to synthesize complex educational data into actionable strategic recommendations for district leadership. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the district’s strategic initiatives to improve student outcomes and advance 21st Century Learning; Stay current with federal, state, and local educational policies and reform efforts; Continuously evaluate and recommend enhancements to secondary-level programs; Serve on the District Curriculum Council and contribute to systemic instructional reform; Facilitate district-wide planning for curriculum, instruction, and assessment in Grades 6–12; Design and deliver professional development aligned with innovative practices and teacher leadership; Oversee NYS Assessments and Regents processes at the secondary level; Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting related to secondary education; Analyze longitudinal student performance data to identify achievement trends and provide evidence-based recommendations for program expansion, modification, or intervention; Serve as a key instructional liaison to ensure building-level practices directly reflect the strategic goals and vision of the Superintendent; Serve as the district wide Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator; Supervise and support Secondary Coordinators. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, and/or designee; Maintain strong collaborative relationships with district and building leadership; Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent to monitor the efficacy of instructional initiatives and ensure they yield substantial and measurable improvements in student learning outcomes; Represent and support Board of Education policies and initiatives; Prepare timely reports and present relevant data and recommendations; Attend Board of Education meetings as appropriate. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Foster positive relationships and communication with the community; Actively participate in community events and promote public support for the district. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education position is a probation position and is part of the Lakeland ALA Bargaining Unit; Evaluation: Annual performance review conducted by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Superintendent of Schools and/or designee pursuant to District APPR procedures; Report to the Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2026 (anticipated) SALARY: Commensurate with experience ($146,128- $181,693)
