Position: Special Education Supervisor Position Overview: The Special Education Supervisor will serve as a vital member of the District’s administrative team, working under the guidance of the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services and in close collaboration with the Director of Special Education, fellow Special Education Supervisors, and building-level administrators. This position is responsible for supervising the special education program and certified professional staff across assigned schools, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Familiarity with the Lakeland Central School District and local community preferred. Certification Requirement: School District Administrator (SDA)/School District Leader (SDL) required. Type of Appointment: Probationary Track Position Key Responsibilities: Provide oversight and leadership in the implementation of special education programs;Support and supervise certified staff to ensure instructional excellence and compliance withIEPs;Collaborate with district and school administrators to maintain consistency and quality across schools;Chair CSE and sub-CSE meetings and ensure the development of appropriate, individualized education programs (IEPs);Observe, coach, and evaluate special education staff with a focus on increasing studentAchievement;Serve as a liaison to families and community stakeholders, promoting inclusive and equitable practices. Qualifications: Successful background in special education; prior administrative experience preferred;Comprehensive knowledge of instructional methodologies, including differentiation andspecially designed instruction;In-depth understanding of Federal and State regulations related to special education; Excellent communication skills—both written and oral. Proven experience with staff evaluation and development;Demonstrated ability to lead productive, collaborative meetings that result in effective IEPs;Leadership qualities that inspire professional collaboration and high standards of excellence.
