Acting Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education 6-12Job DescriptionPrimary Responsibilities: The Acting Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education will provide visionary leadership and direction for curriculum development, instructional improvement, professional development, and technology integration for Grades 6–12. The successful candidate will lead strategic planning efforts, oversee curriculum and assessment implementation, and drive initiatives aimed at enhancing student achievement and fostering 21st Century Learning.Reports To: Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent for InstructionQualifications:Valid NYS School District Administrator CertificationProven successful teaching experienceDemonstrated leadership in secondary curriculum, instruction, and assessmentStrong foundation in learning theory and evidence-based instructional practicesEffective problem-solving and interpersonal skillsAbility to plan, organize, and supervise the work of othersExcellent oral, written, and digital communication skillsExperience with educational technology planning and integration Leadership Responsibilities:Lead the district’s strategic initiatives to improve student outcomes and advance 21st Century LearningStay current with federal, state, and local educational policies and reform effortsContinuously evaluate and recommend enhancements to secondary-level programsServe on the District Curriculum Council and contribute to systemic instructional reformFacilitate district-wide planning for curriculum, instruction, and assessment inGrades 6–12Design and deliver professional development aligned with innovative practices and teacher leadershipOversee NYS Assessments and Regents processes at the secondary levelManage data collection, analysis, and reporting related to secondary educationSupervise and support Secondary CoordinatorsAdditional Responsibilities:Perform duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, and/or designee.Maintain strong collaborative relationships with district leadershipRepresent and support Board of Education policies and initiatives Prepare timely reports and present relevant data and recommendationsAttend Board of Education meetings as appropriateCommunity Engagement:Foster positive relationships and communication with the communityActively participate in community events and promote public support for the districtTerms of Employment:Acting Director of Curriculum for Secondary Education position will be part of the Lakeland ALA Bargaining Unit Evaluation: Annual performance review conducted by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Superintendent of Schools and/or designee pursuant to District APPR procedures.Salary: Commensurate with the negotiated agreement between the Board of Education and Lakeland ALA Bargaining Unit Location: District Office
