VACANCY: Director of Guidance, Career Development & Occupational Studies TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Probationary Tenure Track Position EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2025 (anticipated) LOCATION: Districtwide JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Guidance, Career Development & Occupational Studies (CDOS) plays a key leadership rolein coordinating K-12 guidance and school counseling services. This individual works closely with theAssistant Superintendents for Instruction and Pupil Personnel Services, building administrators, and schoolcounselors to ensure cohesive and effective support for students. Primary responsibilities include overseeinggraduation pathways, post-secondary and career planning (including CDOS credentialing), and homeinstruction programs. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: Proven experience in student services and/or secondary education; prior administrative experience preferred;Strong ability to coordinate comprehensive K-12 guidance and counseling programs;In-depth knowledge of New York State graduation requirements and post-graduation options;Capacity to guide students, parents, counselors, and administrators in credit attainment, credit recovery, and alternate graduation pathways;Expertise in college, career, and technical education planning;Solid understanding of counseling theory, child development, and best practices in supporting studentmental health;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Experience in staff observation and evaluation focused on improving student outcomes;Leadership skills that promote collaboration, professionalism, and a culture of continuous improvement;Familiarity with regulations related to graduation, home instruction, and standardized assessments;Proficiency in student information systems and college admissions platforms;Knowledge of programs that offer students exposure to college and career opportunities; Experience planning and facilitating parent and community engagement events related to post-secondary pathways; Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:NYS School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certificationAdditional certifications as deemed appropriate SALARY: In accordance with the Association of Lakeland Administrators (ALA) bargaining agreement(Range: $143,263 - $178,130, commensurate with experience)
