Under the general supervision of a School Food Service Director, the incumbent of this position is responsible for overseeing and participating in the direct service of food, including Type A and a la carte meals to students within a school cafeteria. Familiarity with the care and serving of food, the care of related kitchen equipment and familiarity with nutritional value of foods. Examples of work include overseeing and participating in the assembling and servicing of school meals; overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and cafeteria areas; maintains and checks food items in inventory; may use computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignments. Minimal acceptable training and experience: either (a) graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) year of experience in food service work or (b) possession of an Associates degree with specialization in foods, nutrition and institutional food management of (c) six years of experience in food service work. This is a 10 month position. M-F Hours: 7:00 am – 2:00 pm. 6.5 hours per day. Salary: $27,606 - $37,148. This is a non-competitive civil service title.
