POSITION: Special Education SupervisorDESCRIPTION: Special Education Supervisor works with the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services, Director of Special Education, and other Special Education Supervisors, and building administrators to supervise the special education program and certified professional staff in assigned schools.REQUIRED: NYS valid certification: School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL)CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Special Education Supervisor position is a tenure-track position and is part of the Lakeland ALA Bargaining Unit.QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will demonstrate:A successful background in special education with prior administrative experience preferredComprehensive knowledge of special education and instructional methodology including differentiation and specially designed instructionKnowledge of State and Federal regulations pertaining to the implementation and delivery of services for students with disabilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with excellent writing and public speaking skillsExperience observing and evaluating staff to increase student achievementExperience chairing CSE and sub-CSE meetings with ability to develop appropriate individualized education programs that address student needsHabits of administration capable of encouraging professional cooperation and enthusiasm to meet current demands for excellence in special educationOTHER DUTIES: Performs and completes other duties and responsibilities as specifically determined by the Superintendent of Schools or DesigneeEFFECTIVE: July 1, 2024 (anticipated)LOCATION: DistrictwideSALARY RANGE: Based on the negotiated contract agreement between the Board of Education and Lakeland ALA Bargaining Unit.
